Every week the Rinker Center for International Programs holds a cultural exchange presentation in the Pittenger Student Center. The presentation held on October 11, was on the east-central African country Rwanda.
Daniel Tuyisenge, a Ball State student, gave the presentation on his home country. Tuyisenge highlighted the top tourist attractions for those who may visit Rwanda.
Kigali: Capital of Rwanda
Kigali is the cleanest city in Africa. In 2008, a ban was placed on plastic bags which cut down on plastic waste.
Each month, every citizen, including the president, participate in a community cleanup. Visitors can tour the pristine city and visit restaurants.
The Kigali Genocide Memorial is a popular destination for tourists.
“The museum is where they put the bodies of around 1 million people,” Tuyisenge said.
Country Side
Rwanda is a very small mountainous country. The many mountains and rolling hills seem to always draw in tourists.
“My country’s nickname is the Country of a Thousand Hills. It’s very beautiful to see the mountains,” Tuyisenge said.
