Ball States Theater Department primarily performs in three different venues. The Venues range from makeshift basement theaters to million dollar performance halls. Here, we take a look at each venue and go over what makes each theater unique.

Emens Auditorium
After receiving a $5 million facelift this summer, Emens Auditorium returns as Ball States premier venue for arts and entertainment events. The 3,000 seat Auditorium was original constructed in 1963, and has since underwent renovations three times. The venue holds the majority of the Theater programs major productions, and has hosted a number of legendary performances.

Pruis Hall
Ball State’s second largest venue. Pruis Hall, serves multiple functions. In addition to hosting Friday Night Film works every Friday, the venue also hosts plays, classes, convocations, and conferences activities. The 640 seat venue can be found just South of Bracken Library, right across from the parking lot.

Cave Studio Theater
One of Ball States smallest and lesser known venues, the Cave Studio Theater, is also one of its smallest. Located in the Basement of the Arts and Communications Building, this 42 seat venue gives students the chance to get up close and intimate with the production. This fall, The Cave Theater is in the process of showing six shows that are completely produced by students.

Strother Studio Theater
One step above the Cave Studio Theater, Strother Studio Theater is a “black box” theater. A black box theater is an open and flexible performance space that can be transformed depending on different performance’s needs. The theater can hold 100 seats, and is located on the first floor in the north end of the Arts and Communications Building.
